The Kappa Alpha Theta Chapter of Eastern Illinois University responded to the Call to Ation to conduct a National Day of Service and Remembrance. The project was defined as "Kappa Omicron Nu Appreciates You" Day. According to Tynisa Watson, a Kappa OMicron officer, "This event is a great way for us to not only serve our community but also show appreciation to those who work hard to keep us safe." The chapter presented the Charleston-area fire departments with homemade cookies and a framed letter of appreciation. This was the chapter's method of honoring the victims and heroes of the 9/11 tragedy.
